Dettifoss - 7 Jul 2008 - Flickr

From my visit to North-East Iceland last week (i live in southwest iceland). This is the largest, most powerful and vertigo-inducing waterfall in Iceland. (think its the most powerful in all of Europe actually)

Hard to reach, especially from this side (i’ve been here 3 times before, always viewed it from the other, rockier side.. my last visit was 8 years ago, before i got into photography) The road is awful, very narrow and your car may or may not survive the trip without small bits falling off.. But its worth it. So much raw energy here. I tried lying on the ground near the edge, and it’s like being on top of a huge rumbling engine. Very cool.
I also discovered that 2 a.m. is a good time to visit if you want the place to yourself ;)
